Yeah but they stripped out unspecified sections of the software. If I was these overseas countries I would force M$ to give me money instead of paying $39 dollars to much.:D
OH and I seem to remember that they told the DOJ and EU that if they removed any piece of SW that winsucks would not function.

Yup. Bill Gates made that very statement (about IE) under oath in court, but ripping out Internet Explorer by the guts (http://www.litepc.com/) actually makes ms windoze faster and more stable--not to mention just a bit more secure.
...and how can you strip-down ms windoze?
It doesn't come with anything useful as it is now!

My newsletter says Windows Light Edition will run maximally three programs at once, will allow only three windows per program, run in a resolution of maximally 800 x 600, it won't have a lokal network (yeah, that's safety!) and it won't have more than one user account.
Conclusion: even if you pay only 39$ for bs, it still is bs. :rolleyes:

In many Asian countries a pirated fully functional Windows XP cost USD 2. Why would a stripped down XP would sell better than this?
Besides,there are alternatives for x86 other than Windows,most of them free.

You listed the top 2 reasons why this is not going to work. Although, MS has such a power and so many believers that they're probably still gonna sell quite a few copies.

can take out of Windows OSes...but, true, Msoft
keeps quackingt about "Uh, you can't take that out
because etc.,". Removing the integrated IE from the OS
is practically the standardized first step in making 9x
a happier camper.

Ya, gates is a lying SOB, I've used that IEradicator
before, and it does a great job of stripping out IE.......so one can
install Mozilla.....or Netscape if you prefer........LOL

win XP pro and home are different just by the few little essential stuff needed by corporations and the price difference is so damn great.
They are ripping out those essential stuff and adding restrictions to the "stripped-down" version, while they could have ripped out the bloats in all of them.
