Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Even microsoft has to bow to the power of linux
I found this quote on slashdot
This new MSNBC article talks about Microsoft's developing strategy to deal with Linux. They are actually getting some of their sales people certified as Linux experts, and say 1/10th of their test servers now run Linux.

They're gonna have trouble believing the uptime they get out of those test servers! :D

I don't think they're so much as bowing down to its power, but getting their own experts so that they can analyze weaknesses and thus strengthen their own operating systems and products to be better than Linux. Which in itself is a good thing. So far I've had pretty good experience with Windows 2000. Secure and stable machines are what we all want (and well, if they were free it'd be even better ;) )

If your competitor can load an operating sytem from a CD without touch the hard disk, kick start all your hardware without relying on any driver from the user, provide more functions and features than your product, technically superior, can read all your files but you read any of theirs and doesn't cost anything, would you not worry?
There is a cross-over point that Windows has to give way to Linux. For me that cross-over point has already passed.

Haven't they been doing that since the first day they started selling their product, and where are they - two steps back.

Well, that and stealing other people's work and re-branding it. ;)
