It's like the Onstar system for cars. Some people just want to push a button, have someone come out and change the tire, and be on their way. Others like us, don't mind getting the lug wrench (Get it, "LUG" wrench, oh that was good!:) ) out and doing it ourselves.

Technically, the SP2 is not in public release yet. That may be in another week or so. MSDN people have access to it, and if you trust it, there are torrents for it.
As I reponded to a Slashdot flaimbait post...
I admit, a 250MB "patch" is a lot easier to install then a 25KB patch, but if you're watching your bandwidth I feel the 2 second download and 15 minute compile time is a tad more efficient then a 2 hour download...
Sorry, there is no "Setup -> Next -> I Agree -> Next -> Next (wait 30 minutes) -> Next -> reboot" method in Linux, but that's what we get for knowing what we're doing in the first place And yes! I was modded flamebait :D

First reports always tend to be initially good - particularly if people are fighting hard against moving to a better OS ;)
The proof of the pudding is in the eating - the best indication of security will really be how quickly the next virus comes out, and how many people are affected.
When it comes down to it, Linux is more secure (assuming appropriate precautions have been taken by either the user or the distribution manufacturer), technically superior, and financial superior. There are only a few UI issues to iron out, but for most people they are minor - it is FUD that holds them back.

I agree, people are just hyped up right now but when they come of their patch high they will remember how much windows sucks

Don't know what is fuss is all about. I regularly update my 5 licenses of XP with MS. Many patches were selectively loaded and in use before I commenced my adventure in Linux.
Only 3 months in Linux and I already have more than 10 distros booting XP in the same box. I can also run one Linux and change root to operate a second Linux.
Let's see how many years it takes one version of Windows to co-exist with another version of its own kind.

I think we've had enough of this...let's continue anymore MS bashing in the proper forum (http://www.justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=115911&highlight=rant) ;)
