I WANT this thing in such a bad way. Check out the video on the site it is pretty cool. I just wonder if with all of the proprietary hardware if linux would ever run on it. Check it out here (http://www.oqo.com/)

Well, Linux does support Transmeta processors (Linus did used to work for Transmeta... ;)). The rest of the specs page is pretty much useless (it doesn't actually tell you anything useful, just the amount of video RAM -- wow, that's important  ), so I don't know.

That 800x480 resolution sounds very odd, though. You'd probably have to make sure you weren't using VESA drivers for the video card to be able to use it...

The Firewire and USB sound like they'd work. The issues would come with the wireless, video, sound, touchscreen, and "motherboard" (or whatever the equivalent is) chipset.

If the kernel will run, though, then Gtk-embedded and Qt/Embedded ought to also work, so you'd have an environment at least. The issue would be the kernel (the drivers for the above problematic pieces of hardware)

I am going to do my level best to convince my boss that I need one of these things. I thought that 800x400 was a little odd too. It would be pretty awesome to have this thing running Linux just for the GEE-WHIZ factor.

Make sure you spend a few extra bucks and pick up a USB keyboard. That little thing looks hard to type on!

I sense another distro coming on here...

OQONIX!

haha that'd be funny. Update us if you do get that working, or just get it as it seems like a nice little toy. I'd rather get a tablet personally though. Whatever works!

We've got a tablet at work that we only use as a regular laptop. We haven't switched it over to tablet mode for a long time. We didn't find it worth the price premium. I will let you know if I end up with this thing, the website says that it won't be available until fall of this year.

Me too, If you could get Linux on it, it would be like icing, but I would take just the cake if that's all I can get.
