I currenly have a copy of counterstrike for Windows but have just recently made a move to linux :). Is there a way, without using win4lin or other such programs, to play countersrike in liunx?

Thanks,

Matt K.

Dual Boot? :D

Seiously though, from what I have read concerning Half-Life, you will need to use transgamings WineX to get HL or any of it's mods like CS to work. Let me know how it turns out I am going to give it a go if I can ever quit playing UT2003 and Neverwinter Nights long enough to do anything else.

WineX/Cedega with a patch, works great with Steam.

There are a few postings on this around, including the link to the patch.

WineX/Cedega is a purchased product from http://transgaming.com for $5/month (3 month minimum) but works better then lots of people may claim it not too ;)

Check their game list for what people have found to work and how well. Usually a 4+ is nearly perfect, 3s work well also, usually, sometimes :)

It's what I use to play CS, that is if I can peel myself away from Enemy Territory :D

If you do happen to figure it out, Matt, you may want to post how you did it in the forums here.

:) Always good to share information! :)

I don't know about Civ3, I never picked it up...in fact I didn't pick up Morrowind either, got it with my video card :)

I think Civ3 is rated very high on the working scale...

Thanks for the info!

are you run it on SuSE 9.1 ?

I'm playing the GOTY year edition and I would definitely recommend the expansion packs. The Dark Brotherhood is a real annoyance but the rest of the additions I can't imagine playing without. There are also a few additions for download from the Morrowind site that I enjoy. I particularily like the dragonflies... they are a nice addition to the atmosphere. But I have no idea if any of that works on Linux or not.

I don't know, I haven't tried (it took me a year just to start getting into the game...feels too much like Everquest without all the idiots to me)
I keep getting all these little quests to do, but I have no idea what the overall plot is (is there one?). It's not a bad game, but the story is very slow.

I don't know why Transgaming hides the games list now, but it looks like the GoTY works as well as the original
http://www.transgaming.com/gamepage.php?gameid=45
http://www.transgaming.com/gamepage.php?gameid=1052

but some are having troubles with Bloodmoon
http://www.transgaming.com/gamepage.php?gameid=937

There is also a nice Loki installer for Morrowind including Bloodmoon
http://liflg.sourceforge.net/?page=art&artid=74

I was using that install for a while until, for no reason, started giving me audio errors. I since installed it under Point2Play and it works just as good there...

I'm pretty sure that the story starts when you finally tell the guy to whom you delivered the package to that you are ready to begin. I've spent hours and hours and ahven't even bothered to do that. I personally just enjoy just travelling around and interacting with all the characters and all those subplots. It has a level of detail that I would say approaches Tolkeinesque. I'm reallly looking forward to the sequel in the 5 or so years that it will take. By then I honestly believe that Linux should be big enough for them to provide unofficial Linux supported binaries. Though with Microsoft offering a unifed platform for developing for xbox2 and pc it might me more of a problem ten the whole DirectX hassle. But then again a single platform for two different processor platforms should lead to less OS dependent code non? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Yeah since the hid the list I just thought they took it down, thanks for the link!
