I just managed to upgrade to 2.6.7 this morning using the pre-built kernel on Slackware 10 (the kernel in /testing on CD2). It worked fine - really easy to do! I noticed that in the same directory on the CD there was an alternative alsa-driver package, so i was wondering if i should upgrade to that package? I didn't set up alsa on the old kernel cos i knew i would be upgrading, so hopefully that might have prevented some issues??

I've always just downloaded the alsa-driver, alsa-lib, alsa-utils, and alsa-oss files from ALSA (http://www.alsa-project.org) and compiled them from source. I've never had any ALSA/Slackware/2.6.x kernel issues since I started doing that.
They have excellent HOWTO's for nearly every card/chip in existance and as long as you follow the directions TO THE LETTER, you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks for the info dude!
FYI, I got a bit trigger-happy last night an went ahead and installed the 'alsa-driver-*-2.6.7' (can't remember exaclty what it's called...) and alsa is now working perfectly. Good old slackware.... making my life much easier!
