While installing Mandrake 10.0, my box would go very slowly during the individual packages and occaisonally report trouble installing several of them. I would tell it Yes to "Continue Anyway?". I would watch the Time Remaining continue to increase and occaisonally go back to the package select screen to reduce the number of packages. This didn't help very much but I get to write a lot of errors in my logbook.

The solution was to burn a fresh install disk 1. I burned the replacement disk at a slower speed and on a different CD burner but from the same ISO as the first install disk.

The next install attempt went so quick, my coffee wasn't even cool.

When you try to burn a disk very quickly it can cause small errors in the file burned to the disk. It seems that this is a particular problem when buring .iso's for installing linux with. The only solution is to slow down the burn speed so your ram / computer can keep up.

Not bad -- a solution as a first post!
