and heres the word on the linux binaries:
Mac and Linux: Unfortunately I don't have dates for either of these. However, Linux binaries will be
available very soon after the PC game hits store shelves. There are no plans for boxed Linux games.
straight from the .plan of Todd Hollenshead (http://www.gamefinger.com/plan.asp?userid=toddh&id=16245), the CEO of id Software
games releases August to retailers Aug 3, and available for purchase (officially) August 5
and theres not going to be a DVD version...
confirmed by Mr. Hollenshead in an interview with CNN Money (http://money.cnn.com/2004/07/14/commentary/game_over/column_gaming/index.htm?cnn=yes)
but still.. im excited :)

This may be a good chance to put WineX to the test and see just how far they've come with it. If not I guess there's always XP until the linux binary is released.

well.. if the linux binaries are out quick enough, you may get them before the game :)

I am excited about this game, but I will be waiting to get it until the Linux binaries are available...(Like I did with Neverwinter Nights, and beta's don't count!)
Has anyone seen ANY system requirements on it yet? id has been very quiet about what is needed to run it.
Their high. Here are unconfirmed requirements:

id has been very quiet about what is needed to run it.
To run it to its full potential graphics wise, nvidia 6800 or a new ATI card. 1 GB RAM, 7200 HD, 52x CD, 5.1 soundcard (Turtlebeach Santa Cruz/Creative Audigy) and at least 2.4 Pentium/Athlon equivalent.
From there it just steps down according to what you have.
So the main thing you need is a debit or credit card. :)

Ya, any joe can say that you'll need
P4 4.2Ghz
GeForceFX 6200 Quantium Pro XL (w/256MB memory)
Audigy 2 Platinum
1.5GB DDRx2 memory
4 10,000RPM SCSI drives (Raid+1)
and dual 21" LCD displays
just to play the game...
Full impact' based on some estimates (not official):
1400Mhz Athlon / 1800Mhz Pentium 4 or higher speed CPU.
256MB of RAM + again quite dependant on how memory hungry your OS is.
GeForce 3 (original or Ti 500).sounds like 'reasonable' specs. I don't care what it runs best on, just what it will run on ;)

Ya really. We want to know what it will run on.
For those extremely high computer specs they list, is that to run the game with high detail and high everything?
