I got Slackware 10 installed last night, seems to work fine.. but when I do startx and GNOME starts up, my keyboard dies. The mouse, I can't be sure if it even worked in the console.. I ran "gpm" but that killed my keyboard.
My setup: I've got a MS Natural Pro keyboard that has its PS/2 and USB plugs plugged in, and I have a USB MS IntelliMouse plugged into the back of the keyboard. I don't have any PS/2 mice or USB->PS/2 adapters, so I'm stuck with this. But I know it can work, because I had my keyboard & mouse working fine on MEPIS.
I can't check log files till I get home, but tell me which ones you want to see and I'll post them here later. I'm anxious to get this working! Slackware/GNOME looks so killer on a 1280x1024 LCD monitor.

Try second mouse entry in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I got an error.. I don't have /dev/mouse2. I have /dev/mouse, and /dev/input/mouse, mouse0, mouse1, mouse2, etc.. those don't work though.
Very disturbing: /usr/sbin/gpm -m /dev/mouse -t imps2 causes the keyboard to die, even if the mouse is completely unplugged.
I think Slackware hates my MS Natural Pro keyboard. Any ideas on this one? I'm totally stumped... no errors in Xorg.log either. But I figure I don't need to startx anymore to test.. once gpm works, I think I've got my problem solved.
EDIT :even more disturbing.. the keyboard is plugged into the PS/2 socket and USB as well.. you'd think the PS/2 part of it would work! I'm doing some googling to find out if anyone else has had this problem.

OK, problem solved. I just installed the 2.6.7 kernel, and everything's fine. Except when I boot up, I see this message when the hotplug module runs:
Disabling IRQ #11
I have no idea what device that is or why it decides to disable it.. kind of annoying, since it takes about 10 seconds or so.
Anyway.. now my network doesn't work :( And I'm clueless when it comes to *NIX networking. I run ifconfig and everything for eth0 looks fine (it's a cabled network, not wireless). I can't ping my router though. How do I troubleshoot this?
For what it's worth, it worked fine in 2.4.26. Also, I've got an nForce2 chipset motherboard.. in Windows, the LAN will not work at all until I install the motherboard drivers. Not sure if that means anything in Linux though.. strange that 2.4.26 worked but 2.6.7 doesn't. Maybe there's an nforce module I missed or something...?

Repost your nic problem under another topic header.
