I'm have a strange problem with CivCTP:
I can play games, load & save works fine.
But I can't make a new game while running Mandrake 9.x, "segmentation fault"
On the same computer, same installatin (/usr/local is the same for all distros) but running Slackware 9 or RedHat 7.2 it works fine.
Any ideas?

This sounds similar to the problems I encountered when I installed Civ:CTP a few months ago. My problem was with glibc versions. Civ:CTP needs a 2.1 and I had 2.3. The program crashed whenever I tried to start a game (I could navigate through the opening menus). I didn't have any saved games to try loading, so I don't know if that part is the same as your symptoms.
Check you glibc versions. Redhat 7.2 is old enough that it could have an old enough glibc. In this thread (http://www.justlinux.com./forum/showthread.php?threadid=126520) I describe how to install gcc-2.95 and glibc-2.1.3 into /opt (to not overwrite your newer versions) and use them with Civ:CTP instead of the defaults. I forgot to mention in my initial post of that thread, that one of the packages has a super-comment that gcc chokes on, just delete the comment.
