Enemy Territory Logs me out

I'm using Fedora Core 2 with Gnome GUI and have been running ET for a long time with no problems. I start up the machine today, and whenever I try to launch ET I'm logged out and booted back to the Gnome GUI login. I don't have the option of seeing error messages or anything.

Any idea what might be wrong?

run et from a terminal, that will output any error messages

It doesn't. Terminal immediately shuts down and I get booted to the log in gui. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a graphic driver problem, you wouldn't have an ATI card do you?

Check dmesg for errors and /var/logs/XFree86.0.log

I'm using an Nvidia card and the 8stacks kernel. I've been playing ET with this setup for at least two months. It's only the day before yesterday that I've had problems. I'll check what you mentioned and let you know the outcome. Thanks.
