Hello ! :D

I got a 800 MHz computer with 256mb sdram who im running ClarkConnect on. I am not satisfied with this distro since it gives me lots of delay when im browsing the internet and I cannot install all the programs I wish on it, therefore I want to install SuSE Enterprise Server 8 on it.

My question is, since it doesnt have a screen / keyboard / mouse / cdrom drive attatched to it, is it possible installing SuSE using SSH and the *.iso file that came with the Novell cd package ?

Are you sure you can't put a keyboard and monitor on it? The only thing I can think of is to boot of the first CD, fire up the rescue system and sshd, and then run SSH into into that from your remote terminal. You could do the preparation with the rescue system and run YaST when you're ready to install.

The only catch to this solution is you have to have a monitor and keyboard at initial boot.

My problem is that I dont have and floppy or cdrom on that box :(

since I already got a ClarkConnect on it I can ssh to it but I would prefer if I didnt have to take parts from my other computer

Hmm... This is an interesting problem.

If it were me, I'd just stick the neccessary components in the comp for the install and take them back out once I had a working system. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out a way to do it with just ssh and a iso file. If you find a way, be sure and post it. I'm sure people would be interested in it.

Best of luck :)

Thank you foryour support.

I really don't want to move that computer out of where it stand since it was very hard to get it in ;) it stands in a clauset where I drilled holes for all the clables and put a fan on top to keep some kind of airflow :) the problem with that setup is that it is really tight and last time it took like 1.5 hours to get it in :D

therefore I want to be able to do it via ssh and the iso file. Maybe it is not possible :(

I remember reading somewhere one could do that with debian ?
