Hello All,
My first install of Linux.
I have 3 ISO images of Mandrake 10.0.
I have made a boot floopy with /images/hd-grub.img file.
The official documentation says to extract the ISO image.
Now there are 3 images, do i extract them into the same folder, or different folders. I don't know if the installation will be able to find the second image, if not using the cd-rom.
My HD: 80 gb
4 partitions:
C: Windows XP Pro (NTFS)
D: another physical drive (FAT32) 4gb
E: Smut 1 (NTFS)
F: Smut 2 (FAT32) Contains Linux Images
G: Clean Fat32 for linux
I will set the bios pnp os to : NO
P.s I use IsoBuster to extract the image files. Great program.
Anything else i need?
Thank YOU!

I would suggest, creating a directory named MDK10, or something similar and then within that directory, create three subdirectories named Disk1, Disk2 and Disk3. I think that should work. Just curious, do you not have a CD burner?

My cd burner is old and "burns" the discs. hehe
I doubt this method will work. I'll hold myself for now from Einstein experiments. ;) Did you tried it?
I read on some other board a guy installed mandrake from hd and it only installed the first cd and couldn't find the others.

I think the guy there right "Mandrake has a bug with these installs from a hard drive"
I think i'm gona take out my hd and go to a friend to burn the images. I think Mandrakesoft should put some more specific documentation on how to extract the files.
I found an interesting article thought, about installing Red Hat 9 directly from the iso images, without even extracting them.

Don't know thoug if it will work with mandrake.
Anyway, seems like too much of a hassle and i didn't even started yet.. LOL
Thx for your reply klackenfus. I'll take your advice and burn the cds.

you are one true geek -- you clearly have STFW and RTFM... and we really must marry you <-- part of an old joke....
Ohh, we love you, and I want to tell you that you can install linux on fat32... :D
Of course, ext3/reiser is better. Please remember to make more partitions -- for the average user 6-10gb is enough for linux, and linux users tend to want to try out different distros all at once, so reserve space for them.

Oh man... haha he :p LOL you make me :o .. . I simply can't imagine something working without it being a "FAT" x32Mhz system... :D
About the space. I gave the linux partition 17gigs so if i need to repartition later i can take some out of it.
Cheers. ps. cool place.
