ive got kde 3.2.3, and the 2.6. kernel.

when i try to install a splash screen (dude crush from kdelook; i love Nemo), it doesnt work.

i thibnk i installed by the directions on the kdelook faqs, and even in hte spalsh screen selector gui thingy in kde. it works fine on all test, but it doesnt work when i log in.

this is for root account, would that have anything to do with it?

Just place it in the directory where your original splash screen is and rename your old one with the ".bak" extension. I could never get them to work half the time by placing in my /root/.kde or /home/.kde directory.

Ok if you've done it there then run the commandupdatedb let run. Then run the commandlocate ksplash You'll see an alternate directory for the ksplash image file. Rename the original image file with a .bak extension and then copy the substitute to that directory and and rename if needed.
