I see that I have this option to update to the 2.6.6-1.427 kernal in my up2date manager. I am new to linux so I don't know if this means there are iso's to d/l or what. I am currently running the fedora core 2 2.6.5-1.358 kernal. What is different about the new one and what do I have to do?
It's kernel, not kernal :p
If you want to see the differences go to kernel.org and take a look at the Changelogs.

You won't download any isos. You will just update to the new kernel.

Matter of fact if you use up2date doesn't it do all the "leg work" for you?
Just wondering,

Right! by using Up2date or yum update, you got the new kernel installed and grub updated.
