1) I ported a window decoration from Sawfish to XFwm, which proved to be very easy. I would like to be sure that I am following the correct procedure when redistributing the modified version on various theming Web sites. As far as I know, the artwork remains unmodified. I simply cropped, rearranged, and renamed the items wherever nessisary so that they would fit the format recognized by XFwm.

Currently the README that accompanies the window decoration is in this format:<Title>
<Description>
<Author>
<Copyright date> <Owner of copyright>
"Released under the GPL." What is the proper way to update this message with the ported window decoration?
Can I remain anonymous or use an alias?

2) I have concluded that there are no close representations of the classic yellow BeOS windec in any X window manager. Could this be for legal reasons? What rules apply to porting Mac, Amiga, and other windecs from other commercial OSs?

Yes, you can use an Alias. Also, I generally make sure that I credit the original artist when I do it.

you need to refer specifically to the Licence Acreement for each individual piece or Software/Artwork... they will all have slightly different licensing terms.
