hello all, I was looking around on the internet, and I came across a screenshot with snazzy icons at the bottom. It looks like kde because konqueror is there. The address is http://www.dotproject.org/screenshots.php?action=view&id=64
does anyone know how I can get my kde 3.1.4 to look like that? I have also seen other desktops with a panel of information about the computer on the side. It show things like memory usage and hard drive space. Anybody know about that one? I would do a google linux search for these, but I have no idea what to call them! Thanks

Go to http://www.kdelook.org and take your pick.

I think the system info panel you mean is gkrellm, there are others though - but generally not as popular. I know that in kde 3.2 you can choose to make you taskbar transparent, in 3.1 you can't. You probably have to cut a piece from your background and use that as taskbar background. I think you can turn off everything except the quickstart to get rid of ugly handles.
HTH, don't use KDE though (OpenBox rules!)

might be gdesklets...
I've never actually seen what super karamba looks like though, so it could be that as well.

the bottom thing only will work with KDE 3.2, not your older version:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6585
or some other app (3.2 too)
http://www.xiaprojects.com/www/prodotti/kxdocker/main.php?action=shots
if you don't use KDE at all, then gDesklets will work

If your using KDE then superkaramba will give you the Mac OSX like bar at the bottom. KDE 3.2 will allow you to make the bar transparent but it doesn't have the icon-zooming function. Try the superkaramba section at www.kde-look.org.
