Virus, trojan, worm, etc?

Edit: To complete the list: spyware? All stuff we have a tendency to forget about using Linux:)

Check the powermanagement settings and the screensaver settings.

Mine goes to the switch user login screen if left alone too long... I think I have it set at 30minutes.

Actually found something on it. have to insert WinXP cd REformat & Reinstall. Very badly corupted registry. Or was it restore the registry from a clean install.

M$ Sucks the big kosher.

You could try to use the recovery console to "Repair". Boot from your cd and choose "R" for repair from the first screen.

I would but the comp didn't come with a cd. Win was preinstalled. I think I will try to put MDK on it My son-in-law likes linux better anyway.

well a format is usually the easiest thing to do, but i was going to say that sounds like the symptoms of some Win virues, like blaster, and some other one, but they actually crashed LSA Shell (whatever that is..) and had that little security window come up about NT Authority. I don't know, who cares, format it and throw Linux on there.

Who's bright idea was it to create viruses anyway??

You should still have access to the Recovery Console from the "boot" screen.
