ive got a laptop i want to add to my LAN. i already have a win2000 pcs, two linux pcs, and now i want to add a win98 laptop.
ive tried all the conection wizards and whatnot, but i cant get it to work
its an older hitachi notebook. this is not imperative, but i really would like to have it to just check e-mail on and such.

i know they are some IT professionals out here, and man, it been along time since i used windows...

p.s. im on a netgear 4-port router, and got alltel DSL service.

Just set the win98 machine to use DHCP and that should be it...

Umm..WinDrivers.com (http://forums.windrivers.com/index.php) :D

Personally I hate those 'wizards' and win98 has the worse ones. If you use DHCP, just make sure all the network settings are set to accept from DHCP or automatic

I'm in a bad mood today (Canada Revenue - TAX owning which could be over $30,000, but that's another story), but I'll leave this open at least for a little while.

Do as the others suggested and ensure you have dhcp enabled and then you should only need to set the gateway and dns server addresses to the ip address of the router.
