Does SuSE 9.0 have an easy way to upgrade the kernel using Yast?

Any particular kernel version or just the kernels that are available through SuSE?

I use YOU (YaST Online Update) which will download and install a newer kernel version if available.

Right click on the RED circle with the 'i' in the System Tray and select 'Start YOU'. If there are newer kernel versions, you will see them in the list (after you check for updates of course).

I just wnated to get the newest 2.6 kernel. Im running the online update now so I will see if that does it. What command can I use to see what the current kernel I am using is?

Nope still using 2.4.21 rather than 2.6 even though i did YOU. Any way i can upgrade to 9.1 via ftp since i know that has the newest kernel in it.

Updating your kernel won't take effect until you reboot into the new one...

A full reboot.

SuSE 9.1 will not be available for ftp installs until something like June 10th. The README on the SuSE ftp servers for 9.1 will tell you the exact date.

If you want the 2.6 kernel now for SuSE 9.0, search G4L for 'kraxel suse 2.6' and you should find documentation and links to where to download the required packages.
