In a X terminal of some sort, or console only mode?

I use slackware 9.1 and there is a nice little app to select the font in a console, "setconsolefont". Most terminal-emulation programs (konsole and gnome-terminal ) will let you select the font via a settings menu. If you are using xterm or one of it's clones you usually can give it the "-fn <fontname>" option. If you want to see a list of the font to play with, try "xlsfonts"

To change font size in the console I would just alter the vga= line in your bootloader to your liking.
I bet you can find the correct values if you search a little.
