I just installed thunderbird and have some questions. Can I use my yahoo mail to view it in thunderbird? Is is a pop3 or imap server? How do I find out what server it is using? Just in case, I also have an account on linuxmail.org. How can I make that account work if I can't get yahoo to work?

I've never used Thunderbird myself. Any documentation included in the Thunderbird package or on their website that helps with the setup and configuration?
What research have you tried yourself?
See if yahoo mail has anything on their site on pop3/imap. Perhaps they have FAQ's etc. or Thunderbird may have instructions on their site to help with setting up with yahoo mail.
<edit>
G4L search results for 'thunderbird yahoo mail' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=thunderbird+yahoo+mail&btnG=Google+Search).

I don't believe Yahoo provides either a POP3 or an IMAP server, no. But you would have to ask them to be sure.
I do know that Thunderbird does not have direct support for Yahoo webmail. The only way you'll get it to work using only Thunderbird is if you can get the Yahoo people to tell you the POP3 or IMAP server to use.
However, most of the results from Mike's G4L search look like they're listings of programs. One program in each list (fetchyahoo or yahoopops, depending on which list you're looking at) will download mail from Yahoo, and the other program in the list is Thunderbird.
But I have no idea how well, or for that matter how, those programs (fetchyahoo or yahoopops) work.

I've used yahoopops on windows a while ago and it works well, not sure how to set it up on linux, but I'm sure its similar. Just install it, get it running, then set up a normal POP3 account and your incoming mail server to 'localhost'
Then if yahoo doesn't work on Thunderbird, what kind of web-based email works? I have an account on linuxmail.org and graffiti.net would that work? I'm just not sure what kind of mail thunderbird can process.

Most of the time (though not all of the time), webmail is not. If it is, it's because the people that run the webmail service specifically turn on an extra POP3 (or IMAP) server, and tell their users about it.
