The ad has nothing to do with the site. It has to do with internet.com. Sponsors pay internet.com for advertising and that advertising includes all sites that fall under the internet.com umbrella, including this one.

Lots of previous threads on MS ads (http://justlinux.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=926362&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) which some will explain the reason.

It is convenient (I was going to say 'nice' but it's far from that.) to keep up with the latest propaganda from the leading criminal corporation in the United States though.
Personally, I am enjoying seeing ms squirm in a way they always denied they ever would.

Here! Read this. Some more Props to laugh at. I get a kick out of this one. It's Microsofts answer to security.

I could care less if I see any M.S. adds on this site or any other. I do not support them in any way. They are a non fair playing bunch with a$$ loads of money that can throw there weight around on any site.
The way I look at it. It's there last cry and wobble before consumption. Ignore it, Enjoy it, Watch it!

It is good that Microsoft is helping support a Linux forum.
As far as Microsoft having money, I wish I had the luck, drive, and timing of Bill Gates.
They did help get the boom in personal PC's going back in 1995 with Windows 95. A fairly inexpensive PC, (compared to other platforms), with user friendly software made computers a lot more accessable to the average user.
And I think having Windows around has helped push Linux development to a faster pace.
Think about the phrase "more like Windows". IMHO, that one phrase has done more for linux than anything else as far as developing new applications and keeping current with the new hardware.
