Well, come May, my 5 years of hard work will have finally paid off and I will have my B.S. degree in Computer science and my B.A. in Business Management. The question now is... what next? I'm currently employed by a small web firm that, although I have learned alot there and I'm kinda "top dog" when it comes to programming, it won't be able to pay what I think I deserve for my skills. I'm also desiring a job at a company that has people way more skilled than me, with a fast paced, high pressure environment.

Although I've sent out resumes to several companies, one particular sector fascinates me... government work. Specifically, I think it would be just downright awesome to work for the DOD, FBI, CIA, or NSA. I mean, after all, I think it would be a well suited job for someone who write encryption algorthims in their spare time! ;)

Anyway, I'm wondering if it would be best to enter a branch of the military to get there. It seems like it would be a great way to get there, and I'm sure my 140 credit hours will probably mean something too. Not only that, but I somewhat feel that I'm lacking in responsibility and self-discipline, and I feel some military training may help straighten me out a bit. Anyone know more about this stuff (please only reply if you're a college grad though... I don't like "assumptions" and guesses).

:D

With your Degree I would think about the Military. The Best part is you will have the oportunity to be an officer. I do not have a college education. I spent 11 years in the military as enlisted. I have respect for and an appreciation for the men and women in the services. The one thing I can recomend is do the research for each one of the oportunites that all government agencies offer and base your needs with what they or the private sector offers. Congrats on your degree's.
