I just installed it in Slackware and I have to say that the speed improvements from 1.1.0 are SUBSTANTIAL, at least on my system anyway.
Anybody else?

Anybody else? Later, MMYoung Hayl 04-01-2004, 11:01 PM been running it for a long time... the final == the same code as the last release candidate according to their site. MMYoung 04-01-2004, 11:09 PM I guess I'm behind then cause I've been running 1.1.0 for a while, but I ain't really checked their site regular either. Be that as it may, from my experiences so far the load times are much faster for all the apps that I've tried compared to their last "release". Later, MMYoung Hayl 04-01-2004, 11:13 PM yep, it's a lot better. still a lot of room for improvement though. the next major release is supposed to be Gtk -- which will make it a lot better/faster. carbon-12 04-01-2004, 11:19 PM :) Yeah its much faster. It starts up in about 6 seconds now for me. MMYoung 04-02-2004, 07:21 AM Originally posted by Hayl the next major release is supposed to be Gtk Nice! MMYoung 04-02-2004, 07:23 AM Originally posted by carbon-12 :) Yeah its much faster. It starts up in about 6 seconds now for me. I'm getting about the same results here, around 5 or 6 seconds. Used to take about 10 seconds for the previous release to start. hard candy 04-02-2004, 07:40 AM You can also, open Officewriter, open Tools, Options, Memory and increase the memory to use for openoffice and speed it up. rocketpcguy 04-02-2004, 08:11 AM next release gtk? how do you know? MMYoung 04-02-2004, 08:17 AM Originally posted by rocketpcguy next release gtk? how do you know? Why don't you know? Hayl sees all, knows all. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtian! :D Later, MMYoung MMYoung 04-02-2004, 08:19 AM Originally posted by hard candy You can also, open Officewriter, open Tools, Options, Memory and increase the memory to use for openoffice and speed it up. I had forgotten about that little trick. Didn't increasing memory to around 30 MB speed it up but anything past that was like a "point of dimishing return'? Later, MMYoung <EDIT> Just increased memory to 30 MB and Calc opened in just under 4 seconds! This wasn't a scientific experiment, it was just me counting 1001, 1002, and so on after I clicked on the Calc link. Same as for my other results. So your mileage may vary ;). justlinux.com
