Sounds like an interesting concept, although you can't sign up for an acount yet as it's still in the testing phase.

It's funny because it actually almost sounds like it could work. Except for the 1GB bit. :p
The moon thing sounds crazy though.

What's really sad is for my users 1Gb wouldn't be enough. I try to explain why they should keep it under 2GB of mail. I love it when they hit the 2Gb and outlook stops working. I'm also amazed when they have 1gb of mail and don't understand why there mail client is slow

I don't think that's a joke - they tried it once before with Lycoris and Lindows-based systems.

Why should 1gig free e-mail be amazing, heck if i wanted to deal with the chance of me accedentaly killing my server i'd setup e-mail, and have more then just 1 gig, Thats what linux is for right! Who said this "1gig mail" was free, nothing on the site says its free, just in testing stages (if its not a joke)

It can be free.
They want to insert advertising into the email- the question is that they may use your email profile and your browsing profile to sell your web/email life to others and/or target specific ads to a particular individual (which means more damn porno to me, oh well, I still like Coolios Babes! :D )

Maybe this will stop all spam email, once companies realize they can get their ads targeted specifically to the right people!

All Google email will be spam, which means if they pull it off, will AOL, Hotmail (is it still hot when it gets to Canada? :) ), MSN, Bellsouth, Verizon, et al try it? So then all email will basically be spam unless you run your own server.
Help! The sky is falling, the sky is falling....

So, what's up with gmail... I've been using it to test out and it seems equal to hotmail or yahoo.. as for the privacy... don't yahoo and hotmail "search" email for spam? Just curious...

I can only vouch for Yahoo...its a "filter" feature and I have to say its almost at 100%. It places it in a "bulk" mail folder where it is auto-deleted after 30 days.
