Hi Forum
I have a Complicated Question that could be answered easily, but here goes
I have a NEC Versa Lite FX Cel 333Mhz 128Mb Laptop which comes with 2 PCMCIA slots, NIC card, 3 USB ports, modem and External ports for Cdrom and Fdd/printer.
saying that the laptop is the lite version without the NEC Cdrom and the NEC FDD.
I want to install a Linux Distro anywhere will do to a partition on the 9.5G Hdd, without the help of the NEC propirety external cdrom and Fdd because both devices cost >$200 a pop. I do have a External USB cdrw, Network Cable and plenty of room to on the Hdd to place a iso image or 2 of linux.
What should I do Remember i have NO floppy drive and NO Cdrom that gets recognised during boot. i do have network boot option in bios (laptop asks for a dhcp from the server), or can i do a Hdd install.
Thanks
Gus

Can you boot from the external USB cdrw? Try with a Windows or Linux bootable cd.

If that doesn't work, you could setup another pc to act as a network boot server (PXE ???) and then boot from that.
