I have a Adaptec 39320A-R card with 2 x 36GB SCSI HD.

Booting up Slack 9.1 with adaptes.s kernel will detect both the card and hard disks (2 x 36GB). (hard disk detect as /dev/sda, etc)

However, once I configure the Adaptec card as hostraid (1 x 73GB), it ask me for a name for the disk array. So I called it "rd0".

I cannot find any hard disk devices or "rd0". However, it can detect the adaptec card as AIC79xx.

I also tried another name "u320", thinking that "rd0" may be a reserved name.

This is the first time I uses scsi hard disk and configure a hardware raid.
Appreciate if anyone can help out.

I'm bumping this since I don't use RAID except for cockroaches. :) MD Watts and some others use RAID.

Are you saying the Slackware installer cannot find the HD's after defining the name for the disk array?

The SCSI Raid how-to's at www.tldp.org might be of some help.

Yes. After defining the disk array (CTRL+A when boot up) as "rd0", Slackware can detect the Adaptec adapter but cannot detect the array.

There is no problem detect both hard disk as /dev/sda and /dev/sdb when I did not congfigured it as RAID on the Adaptec 32390A-R card.
