XMMS in Stereo?

OK, I was trying to run XMMS last night to listen to my MP3's and running the program isn't a problem, however, I could only get sound through the right speakers rather than all of them.

I'm using the ALSA output with a Hercules Gamesurround Muse 5.1 DVD soundcard.

My speakers and soundcard seem to be working perfectly, at least I don't have any problems with them running winamp on my winblows partition.

No error messages or anything, it just doesn't work right.

Anyone have issues like this before or have any thoughts on what I can try to fix it?

I would appreciate any help I can get :)

Is it only XMMS that has this problem or all the sounds? Check the mixer settings and make sure the balance is centered on both XMMS and the system

I had actually just made volume setting adjusments in my sound server itself a couple days ago and left everything just the way I had wanted it, so I didn't even think about checking that. But after you suggested it I figured, since it was all I had to go on, I should check it just to be sure. And sure enough, the balance setting was set all the way to the right. I also noticed that my clock on my pannel had been moved and so I'm wondering if my neice was playing with it. She's awefully computer savvy for a 5 year old, but she is, none the less, a 5 year old, which puts her in a position to know how to use a mouse but not read or understand anything she's looking at. She probably ended up accessing my vloume/balance controls through the GUI and tweaked it without knowing what she was doing (she hid all the icons on my brothers windows computer when she was two and a half just by playing around with the wrong stuff)... Guess I'll have to remember to screen-lock when she's over :), or maybe I should teach her how much better linux is :D. Good thing she doesn't know the root password though, eh? ;)
