....i'm just concerned with a few lil doubts

i just read this article (http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/8009/index.html) , and i might give the amd64 install a try. i was wondering if anyone here has had any success with an amd-64 install ???

i tried the x86 install way back when i had less time/know-how
i think i might be ready this time. Got any pointers or other helpful links that are not on gentoo.org ?

on a side note anything, be it games or distros distributed via DVD makes a lot more sense these days, if we could only get higher speed broadband this might be more common.

thanks

this may seem like a silly question.. you have an AMD64bit processor, right? :)

if i had one, i know id go with gentoo... i love slackware, but i386 just can't cut it forever :)

not such a silly question, but yes i do have an AMD64 3200+

most of the 64-bit ditros seem to suck thus far :(
i was hoping to see ifanybody had any luck with gentoo on AMD64

Be sure to check http://packages.gentoo.org to see if your favourite packages have gone stable on AMD64 yet.

If I had an AMD64 processor, I would have put Gentoo on it by now. :D But I don't. :( If you try it, let us know how it goes!

Do not ask, do it
gentoo would certainly do it

well i gave the isntall a try, and it did not like my linksys lne100tx, i posted all the fun times i had with it on another
thread

i got new nic, this one is a dlink.

emerge now works, but still al lil shy about what flags to use in my make.conf to get teh most out of my amd 64.

this i find really funny

32 bit distos dont like the dlink card
64 bit distros dont like my linksys card
