Err... I have Mandrake 9.2, any idea on how to get Ximian Desktop2 running on it?

Supposedly it's "Currently not supported". I don't care about support! :D

Seriously, is there some sort of "hack" I can use to install it?

Any input would be much appreciated, thanks. :)

If I were you I would get red carpet that is the best way to install any thing from Ximian. http://www.ximian.com/products/redcarpet/download.html

No! No! No! You don't get it... It won't install on mandrake. The installer will say "Detected OS: Mandrake 9.2 (sorry not supported)" ** or something like that.. and WON'T let me finish the install.

Therefore, me = needs + hax0r, to install it. :)

really, Am I going to have to install RedHat to run this ui?

EDIT: Apperantly, there is a RedCarpet for Mandrake 9.2 :p

Does this mean I can install Desktop2 with it? :)

Thanks, eh.

crap... It says I HAVE to use the official installer. So I'm screwed. I need to use that thing. Err.. can anyone give me a "how-to" link or something? Google isn't putting out.

EDIT: LOL, If I type "Ximian Desktop2 Mandrake 9.2 How-to" in google, this exact thread is the very first link. :p I feel special.

once redcarpet is installed you should be able to install XD2. and it is also a good tool to update the system. It does a fair job at retrieving deps also go for it.

Here is the link to the html manual
http://www.ximian.com/support/manuals/redcarpet/t1.html

did you install redcarpet for 9.2? I used it once with 9.2 about 3-4 months ago I did not like XD2 so went back to regular Gnome.

ur joking... , if you did I would be very shocked.

Anyways, I installed fedora, I figured, screw hacking around, I'll just get the damned red-hat, and I have to say.. this thing is uber-frekin'-slick! I love this, I'm not using any other distro. It runs so damned smooth, IT LOADS THE OS WITH THE GRAPHICS CARD LOADED! :D  **love**

This thing kicks ***, Mandrake 9.2 doesn't compare, at all. We'll see if 10.0 does. ;)
