I've been toying with the idea of purchasing Phat Linux XP. I'm curious if anyone has used this before and their impressions on its functionality. I'm looking for something that is a little more in depth than a live distro.

Because whenever I'm at my parents house, I long for linux and they refuse the idea of a dual boot. Are there other distro's out there that install on a windows partition besides Phat Linux?

As always, I apprecieate everyone's time and knowledge.

*looks at website* They say it is unprecidently easy to remove it so it doesn't seem hard to just go ahead and test it. But is looks like it is more targeted for newbies who are scared to partition their hard drives.

Peanut Linux (http://www.ibiblio.org/peanut/), TopologiLinux (http://topologi-linux.sourceforge.net), DragonLinux (http://dragonlinux.sourceforge.net), muLinux (http://mulinux.sunsite.dk) and the one you already mentioned, Phat Linux (http://www.phatlinux.com)

Thanks Fellas,

I'll probably try a majority of those and I'll post some impressions, in case anyone is interested.

You could always try Mandrake Move. All you have to do is insert the bootable cdrom, and you have an instant Linux Desktop.

in taht case, you could use any live-cd.
go to distrowatch.com and search for some. there are several good ones.

btw- shouldnt this go in the new "iso confused" section, its about a distro.

Just what I was thinking when I read the thread title. Moved to .iso confused.
