Ftp Server Installation

OK,

Now my big question is this I have a AMD k6-2 450MHZ
256 RAM
10/120GIG HDA/HDB
40X CDROM
10/100
SIS ONBOARD VIDEO


I would like to set up a ftp server to host linux applications,
I guess you could say I know zilch about server concept so, I have suse 9.0 pro, suse 8.2 per. 8.1 per, mandrake 9.2, redhat 7.3 & 9.0, freeBSD which I have yet to figure out the install. I have plesk 7.0 for redhat 9.0
but thats mainly for domain name hosting, nice perk to that is the cd I have is for unlimited domain names....doesnt help with ftp....
I work for a cable ISP Provider, so 3.0mbs if free with a possible static.
I need to know what is the most simple ftp server setup and some basic instructions.
