modem problems

I am a Linux newbie, I have just installed mandrake 9.2.
My problem is with my modem, I cannot get it to work.
I am using a Fujitsu FDX310 usb modem,Fujistu say that it is not supported but that some people have managed to get it to work. Do any of you use this modem and if so could you help me sort out this problem.

I did receive many hits with a G4L search for 'FDX310 usb' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=FDX310+usb&btnG=Google+Search). See if any tell you the modules that are required to be loaded and how to setup and configure.
