A simple quistion for some of you, I suppose..

Does Linux support the SATA Mirror RAID controller on the AI7 motherboard (to see more about it: ?Abit AI7 information (http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/no/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=AI7&fMTYPE=Socket+478) ).

A quick answer would be great!

As long as you're not dual booting it with windows it should be fairly straightforward.

That would depend on the kernel version you are planning to use. Best to search G4L for the SATA Raid Controller model to see what you can find out about possible support.

We do try to answer the question asap, BUT we don't always know the solution for everything posted here.

I'd like to use Slack 9.1. That's the OS I've liked best since I started with Linux, back in 95.

I've allways had problem with confirming HW when I've updated - An idea would be to create a central HW-DB for Linux - even with tips & techniques.

Mdwatts, you (I seem to remember) belong to the JustLinux team, don't you? Maybe you could suggest it?

I'd be happy to add entries there and I know a lot of other people out there also get by hardware easily, so they can help too.

Are you using the ICH5-R Raid Controller? Another member recently posted in the Installation forum on the ICH5 which included a link to a installation guide.

Some G4L search results for 'sata raid' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=sata+raid&btnG=Google+Search) that may help.
