gnome restarts for 1 user

I'm running debian unstable. When I try to start gnome, (from kdm, i had issues with gdm) it simply waits a few seconds and then logs me out. The strange part is that gnome works for all the other users on the system. I tried deleting the ~/.gnome* directories, but it didn't work.

All I can think of is to backup whatever you need from the users directory, remove the user, recreate and then restore what you need.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

I fixed it. It turned out that a file, ~/.ICEauthority was owned by root for some reason. Changing owners back to me fixed the problem.
