Hee hee.
You've probably seen all the ads showing the bar graph of linux vs windows following Microsoft's "get the facts" campagin.
Well, who actually looks at adverts for longer than a second or so? not many people. So surely it was a mistake for microsoft to show a bar graph, with linux scoring higher?! Unless you actually sit and look at the ad right to the end then it looks as if whatever is being compared, linux is doing better!

I had the same thought myself. Not that I really care or anything... I mean, I don't use Microsoft products either way, and never intend to, so it really makes no difference to me. :)

The TCO ad? *chuckle* yeah, it's kind of funny. I also notice the fact that they had to put linux on a mainframe to bring up the cost. Like anyone who would be interested in the ad wouldn't have at least a vague idea that Surprise! mainframes are expensive!

Funny.
With Linux you have the choice of mainframe or ix86 server box.
If you take the ix86 server installation--on identical hardware as an ms install--the OSS TCO blows Redmond off the map. Which, of course, is the issue ms would love to skirt and FUD to death.
Then again, you could always *try* to install ms-whatever on a mainframe. ;) Yeah, maybe not.

Yeah. And the linux bar is at least 50% longer, not the average of 13.2%. *

MS is missing the point altogether, freedom, in an OS written by the people and for the people, is more important than cost. The study may be hitting on the fact that many of our opinion leaders are spending lots of money to bring down a downward spiraling monopoly.
There are major cracks in the Wintel monopoly. AMD and Linux are beating Intel and MS at 64 bit. SCO, a key MS partner since the days on Xenix, has gone supernova.
MS no longer has what it takes to do business with the world's governments. No wonder, government is supposed to be based on security and stability.
Opinion leaders have always turned the tide in the OS and hardware wars. Remember CPM and Kaypro.

Is that what that flushing sound was???
I can see McBride getting dizzy already. Here's to the Coriolis Effect!
I haven't seen it yet. Could anyone give me a link?
