Fedora- Icons on KDE won't move

I am running Fedora and KDE. When I create a link to an application on the desktop and then try to move the icon somewhere else on the desktop it's like it's just stuck there I can't move it anywhere.

I am sure im missing something, but searching this forum didn't provide any clues for me.

You are holding down the left button while dragging the icon?

Yes as silly as my question sounds.

I am holding downt he left mouse button while dragging.
It just snaps back to the previous position.

Right click on the desktop, select Icons and then uncheck 'Align to Grid'.

I have tired that one too. Still no luck.

hmm.. all it needed was a reboot.
