I created a stock account called Equiserve, which is a sub-account of the top-level account called Assets. I want to use this account just to keep track of the stock I own in my company (Wal-Mart). I am however having trouble getting this going the way I want.
Going into this account, there is a column for Description, which I imagine is for the name of symbol of the company I have stock in. What I wanted to do was have a starting balance of 14.199 shares @ 55.00. I set the transfer to Equity, Shares to 14.199 and price to $55.00 in the first transaction. But the result was that it made the balance $824.94. The problem is it says the share total is also 824.940 with a price of 1. It says I bought 824.940 shares at that price. How can I fix this so that it says after entering the transaction that I have 14.199 shares at the correct price (not $1).
Thanks!
