I think it's wrong for the Europeans to sue Microsoft for bundling Windows Media Player. It seems that this industry believe that MS Windows is a platform, however it isn't! MS Windows is a product, and Microsoft has control over the implementation. Microsoft has a right to distribute anything they want with their product. If a vendor doesn't like that then they should move their product to a different operating system. With regard to software patents, I can also see that Microsoft has to right to patent or at least copyright their product line on Windows, however I don't understand why they should have the right to dictate what developers do on Linux. Microsoft owns Windows but it does not own Linux. Microsoft should never be allowed to dictate what we think or how we write code on Linux. The only thing that should be illegal is if we distributed closed source code.
People have supported a monopoly and it's their fault in a way for doing that. The people should be punished, however they have to get it right in their heads, that Windows is not a platform, it's a product owned by Microsoft. They can do whatever they want with it. The open source community should be able to do whatever they want with Linux. Microsoft should not be able to dictate what we can do on Linux. Why is the world so screwed up!
