I am very new to Linux (converting from Windows), using SUSE 9.0 with KDE 3.1. I have installed Mozilla and have been trying to figure out how to add an icon to the desktop for it.

I know this has to be a simple task, any help would be most appreciated.

I'm running KDE on RH9 rather than Suse, but I am guessing the behavior is the same. If Mozilla appears somewhere in your main Start menu, you can drag the icon from within the menu to your desktop. When queried, say that you want to copy, rather than move or link.

1.) Right click on desktop
2.) Create New -> Link to Applications
3.) Type in the name. go to the execute tab and type in mozilla in the command section.
4.) OK

Thanks, carbon-12, that was the information I needed.

Thanks for helping an old mainframe programmer. This is a whole new environment for me.
