Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Konqueror error: The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly.
Like the title says.
Two things that I can think of may caused this:
1) I did an emerge -u world a short time ago
2) I changed the properties of a .mpc file so that xmms would be the default app to open them via Konqueror.
At first I was just able to click ok and move around in Konqueror, now it displays nothing. I use it as a FM not a Web browser. It still seems to Web browse fine though.
Using Gentoo.

Since the 'emerge -u world' may have upgraded KDE, then you may need to restart X/KDE.

From the XMMS DOC's
5.1 Supported File formats
-------------------------
OGG Vorbis
MP2 and MP3 streams
WAV/AU samples
module formats:
mod, xm, s3m, med, it
669, amf, dsm, far
gdm, imf, m15, mtm
stm, stx, ult, uni
others:
cd audio, shout/icecast
Restarting has fixed the Konqueror problem. Although I did have a problem restarting X alone and ended up having to halt.
JohnT regardless of what the xmms docs say .mpc is supported and once I emerged xmms-musepack xmms plays them well.
Read more about it here if you like: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpegplus/

A prior mention of a third-party plugin would have changed my investigation into your problem. Glad you got it working.
Oops, I probably should have mentioned the 3rd party plug-in part. I will make sure to do so next time. :)
