I'm sure there must be some Slackware users on here that have apt-get running on there systems.
I just downloaded a .tgz from http://project-csi.sourceforge.net which contained three directories - /etc, /var, and /usr.
In these dir's there are all the precompiled files for apt. As root I moved these dir's and files to there corresponding place in the system. Now when I (as root of course) try to do: apt-get update I get this message: E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (2 No such file or directory)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory, are you root?
Well i've tried a couple of things but can't get it going. The first 20 sources in the list update OK the they start to time out and then the error message.
If anyone could help me out here it would be appreciated.
Thanks.
