I feel really stupid.

I was trying to install SUSE 7.3 on a Toshiba Portege 3490CT and there is no CD ROM -- it can take a USB CD ROM but it's been known to create problems during installation. I was going to try installing over FTP.

I grabbed an image of the bootdisk from SUSE and copied it to a floppy. It started booting up ok and it found PCMCIA and asked for the modules floppy. I put that in and the modules were loading and the power knocked out.

When I plugged it back in, I put the bootdisk back in, hoping to start over. Nope. Now it won't boot at all. It just gives me an error message saying: "Boot failed: please change disks and press any key to continue."

I've tried copying the image of the bootdisk to another floppy and no luck. It won't boot at all now (it's a new drive and there's no other OS on it). How do I fix this?

Until another member can hopefully give you a few suggestions, see if the Portege models at

can help with the bios setup and Linux installation.
