I am new to linux, and have just installed red hat 9 through a virtual pc:D
After the installation i had to configure my graphics card. In doing so my linux hung. Rebooted linux but came up with error message: Kernel Panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernal. There is no activity after that. Can some-one pls help before i pull all my hair out..

The "kernel panic no init found" is a popular problem posted here and sometimes involves a reinstall as somehow the startup init files have been corrupted or even deleted due to a improper bootup or shutdown.

You may want to have a look through some of these previous posts I found with a forum search for "kernel panic init found" (http://justlinux.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=853405&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) as some may have recovery procedures you can try.

Post back if none of them help.
