Sound

I have Fedora Core 1 Installed on my computer, for some reason, I'm having a problem wiht sound. I can play MP3's, etc, however, the sound is very very faint. I have to turn up the volume on my speakerks all hte way up in order to even slightly hear hte volume, is there a way to fix this?
