ARCH LINUX! THATS WHAT!
(uh... ok, so I'm not that good at making jokes)

I've just finshed setting up my first Arch box, and all I have to say is WOW!

If you're a long standing Debian user looking for something a little less bloated and more streamlined, or a Slack user wishing for an ever growing and maintained package set without sacrificing the power of .tgz-type packages, then look no further!

Check it out. 'Tis very impressive, i686 optimised as well. (HUH!?!? What's this?!?! Only 19 seconds for me to boot up into the text console?!?!?!!!!!!!!)

Well, I'm looking forward to trying Vector Linux actually... currently downloading it. Read on OSNews that it's pretty good, and on MadPenguin, the benchmarks show that it's pretty much faster than Slackware (which is the second distro I got my hands on, first was Caldera OpenLinux which made me to nearly give up on Linux) :) I'm a newbie.

ArchLinux? Hrm... I have to download a 600+MB file? Aaah! Yeah, I know the base install is just over 100+MB, but there wouldn't be much to do with that.

Fingers-crossed, I'll be satisfied with Vector Linux for now :)

Or perhaps his bandwidth has exceeded.

Anyway.. Slackian, Debware? ;)

I'm pretty much a Gentoo man. Though, I have been meaning to try out Debian.

A TTCL of 19 seconds isn't bad....yeah, I could find the time to fiddle with that a bit.

I use Gentoo, too (no pun intended). I have used Debian. Now that I've used Gentoo, though, I will NEVER go back! You can't make me! No!

Seriously, though, I like Gentoo much more. I feel (not looking for a flamefest) that Debian has been bogged down in the egos of the developers. Just my perception. I recommend Gentoo.
