That's a serious machine, there, pig.

'enough cash to buy the outer hebrides'
(thats from 'Blackadder The Third, Episode 6: "Duel and Duality"')

it also accuratly describes wht i got... lots of cash..

so im gonna get up bright and early, and head to the nearest bargain electronics store, for a new setup. Athlon XP 1800+ just aint cutting it anymore.

and i also have a severe case of envy.. one of my friends got a 2.8 P4 laptop, another a 2.4 P4 desktop.. so i have to get a good enough Athlon system to show them..

but im wondering what the electric razor is for.. :D:D

Audigy LS
Logitech 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers
GeForce FX 5600 Ultra (128mb)
Blue Neon
Verge 256mb Mp3 Player
DVD's

good stuff, good stuff. Hopefully i can get the Audigy LS working in Linux soon enough. I'll try more later. OH YEAH! Here's an unexpected gift-

Doubled Cable Speed-
1.5mbps-3mbps
And yes, you do notice a difference. I found this out by checking the main Comcast email account, and discovering this. A quick run upstairs, disconnected the modem for 60 seconds, reconnected, and BAM busting out 3mbps. OHHH YEAH!

Bon Bon got this computer (http://ed-thelen.org/comp-hist/vs-commodore-pet.jpg) for Christmas, we're going to upgrade it with a new motherboard, power supply, cpu, video card, sound card, RAM, hard disk, cdrw, floppy drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor, case, power cord, network card, and maybe a dvd +/- R.
I got a ice scraper to clean off my monitor in the morning, usually I have to warm up the monitor to melt the frost but the scraper will cut the time I have to wait to start cruising the net. Also, Bon Bon made me a anti-electrostatic wrist band using a leather belt and barb wire. And he found a field mouse that had been run over by a logging truck on State Hwy 78 last week, we let it dry real good and are using it for a mouse pad.
We hope everyone had a good Christmas or whatever you celebrate, and we are looking forward to the new year on this here LinuxQuestions.org site!

I got a TIVO sysytem for Christmas. Since I'm going to be expanding the storage space with a new hard drive, I think it qualifies as computer related. These things run Linux too!

I also bought my son the network adapter for Playstation. He's already been busy challenging people on the 'net to Madden 2004 games. Sheesh, what a geek!

My mistake, I thought I was somewhere else. Funny thing happened, we was using the dried mouse pad and all of a sudden the mouse locked up! Cursor wouldn't move or nothing, I took the the mouse apart and found out the mouse ball was jammed on a mouse ball- must have been a male field mouse the truck ran over. Bon Bon went next door and got an optical mouse since the neighbors were off shopping. Works good, glides right over the rib bones sticking up.

As far as I know, there's not way to get wireless Internet on Linux with a Centrino. I have a very similar laptop to the one you're planning to get, so I've looked into it already. I'd suggest that you keep Windows if you want to use wireless. Everything else works flawlessly under Linux though. :D

The 4200 is the ti series, the 420 is the MX. He said 4200, so I assume that it is the ti series, however he did put an extra "o" in GeForce, so an extra "0" in 420 isn't too har to imagine...

Yeah, good point but i heard its a great card. if you're looking economical, grab the 5600 Ultra, i think around 130-150 which is good. Card works pretty darn good for me too.

I gave more than I got this year--which is more fun for me--mostly full systems and the odd-DVD-burner or two.

I did get 3 more SyncMaster 192Ns (+ VESA mounts) to plug into my video cards. I can finally work in comfort...but I now need a bigger desk.

The kids got so many games this year, that I'm spending the weekend building them a dedicated windoze gaming system (makes 3 windoze systems in my house...the outrage of it all!); which, if it crashes and burns, I hope it actually catches fire.

[edit}
silly me....of course I really mean:
"which, when it crashes and burns, I hope it actually catches fire."

It'll only be a matter of hours....

[edit]
I counted wrong on the original writing, where I incorrectly said '2 windoze systems', and they've been just as crashy as one could expect. No fires tho'......bummer.

a lovely lady bought me a dvdr/rw drive and a 120gb maxtor drive. i am a very sarcastic guy...i gave her a box and she knew it was jewelry. when she opened it, it was one of those friendship bands you get for a quarter out of the vending machines. she was like "give me your gifts back." so i had to give her her real gift. i got no complaints and got to keep my gifts :p.

I bought for myself a CRT 17inch Samsung monitor (not big on those flatscreens yet and also not big on the price about 4 x I think!! )

Got a 256Mb Pen drive from a friend
Got an external laptop drive device (UCB 2.0 and firewire!!)
a USB cahrger for my Cell phone!!!

And a little knife with a cute penguin on the end all dressed up for the cold!! (from my wife!!) ( - and yes geeks can get married!!)
