I foolishly tried to assoc. a pdf file with Konqueror thru the settings-file association menu. ( Last time I messed it up by assoc Konq with a gif file.) The result was a massive onslaught of Konq launchings, way past 50 konqs. The only thing I could think to do was reset the machine, panic had set in. Now I cannot launch the Konqueror browser or the Konq file manager from my desktop or start menu, however it will launch from the command line or run command. Any clue on how to fix? Last time I just reinstalled OS, but now system is too complete to dump for the inconvenience of launching Konq the hard way. Help appreciated.

May want to check the entry in the Menu. It may be messed up somehow. Mandrake is Start thingy then Configuration then Other then MenuDrake, I think. Gentoo is Start thingy then Settings then Menu Editor.

I'm not sure what distro you are using.

OH, BUMP.

to Dalek,
I'm running Redhat 9, I'm thinking that a utility called "kfmclient' is not working, that is in the command of the menu: spec. "kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing" . From the terminal as su I launched that command and Konq came up fine and dandy. Not as reg. user tho. I could I suppose change the command in the start menu editor to simply konqueror, should start... still working on it...but may settle for the workaround...LTS (lifes-too-short)

I am currently running mandrake 9.1 and have the same problem. But it actually downloads the html to a temp directory and then displays it.

What I did was open a terminal up and then typed

kfmclient configure

then on the home.desktop I changed the command to

kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing.

All seems to work ok now.

Still not the right fix but seemed to work

original command line was

kfmclient openProfile filemanagement
