I've looked forever, anyone know of a transcribing software for linux... That supports a USB pedal?

I've found one prog on sf.net that's called "transcriber", unfortunately it doesnt support a pedal (as far as i could tell)

i've been think about maybe emulating a windows prog, but i think the usb pedal will cause difficulties... any ideas?

I used to work for a hospital and I loved it. That being said, we had used a transcription system from HBOC (now McKesson) that ran on an HP-UX backend and a Windows NT front end. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure 3com did the front end. Don't think it will run on linux though.

IBM has a WebSphere product called VoiceWare that is for medical transcription. It seems to run on an AIX back end. I'm guessing an endorsed linux back end isn't too far off. If all the components of the appliation are up to the J2EE specification then application should run on any J2EE compliant container, on any platform. Somehow I doubt this is the case because I"m sure VoiceWare uses ViaVoice for it's recognition system, but it's worth looking into.

For the record: I do not endorse, nor condone the use of WebSphere anywhere. It's just not JBoss! :)
